The Step we fitted to Hamish Watch Here
Our Defender NAS rear step is made out of larger diameter & stronger 3mm walled Stainless Steel tube. We incorporated a CNC machined hardened plastic treadplate with a nice recessed metal finisher plate. All our laser-cut edges and front facing metal surfaces are semi polished and edge radiused prior to building the item. Although time consuming, this means the paint doesn’t have a sharp edge to peel away from later down the line.
We have also made our rear step protrude 25mm more than standard for better usability both as a step and to push the tow plate further away from any side obstructions that may be also attached to your crossmember. Finally we added optional 25mm thick Stainless CNC machined Jacking points with a reverse side radius. This allows our jacking points to fit perfectly to the contour of the tube.
Standard NAS rear steps are made of 2mm mild steel tube with a thin rubber or metal treadplate. All the laser-cut edges are left undressed due to mass production & cost saving. Inevitably paint failure begins the day it is fitted. Land Rover Enthusiasts have tried galvanizing to cure the problem. However this only masks the cause, as all steel eventually rusts, if not from the outside, it will from the inside.
Bumax 109 Hi Tensile / Rated Stainless Steel fixings included for full install. (10.9 Grade tensile steel bolt equivalent).
